The Bøler branch is located in the Østensjø district, at the Bøler shopping center. The library building is designed by architect Sverre Fehn, and was erected in 1972. Its nearest neighbors are the Bøler Community Building and the local swimming pool. The branch is near the Østmarka forest with its walking paths, lakes and illuminated ski trails, and offers rich opportunities for outdoor activies.
The Mortensrud underground line 3 brings you to the area; the library is within walking distance of the station.
The Bøler branch offers services to both young and old, and is dedicated to helping children and youth discover and maintain a love of reading. School classes are regularly invited to the library, and the library´s personnel often visit the schools in the district to give book orientations.
The library cooperates with several local groups to create events and services. An example of this is the cooperation with Bøler Forum for Senior Citizens, with a series of lectures in the Bøler Community Building. This is part of an effort to provide services for those over the age of 60.
The Bøler and Oppsal branches cooperate on a collection of historical photographs. The database includes several hundred photos from the area, and is constantly being expanded. The database is available at
http://bildebaser.deichman.no/
The library publishes an audio newspaper 4 – 6 times annually, for the blind and visually impaired. The newspaper is available free of charge, and includes useful local information.
The Bøler branch has an interesting collection of books concerning the Østmarka forest area and outdoor activities in general.
