Deichmanske bibliotek / Oslo Public Library , Music Department
The Music Department is located in the main library building in the center of Oslo, just a short walk from Karl Johans gate.
We offer 6,900 books, 33,400 CDs, 18,500 sheet music titles including scores, and 2,200 DVDs for loan. You can also borrow a ukulele, guitar, or bongo drums. Our on-premises services include 59 periodicals with current subscriptions, as well as a number of back issues of others. We also have a large collection of reference material.
The department has a staff of 10, whose combined expertise covers all music genres. We are active in the Norwegian Music Library Association and participate in the library's digital reference services.
Our patrons include students, teachers, professional musicians, music lovers and amateur musicians as well as public offices, businesses TV/radio stations and other libraries.
