Patient Library at Rikshospitalet
The branch of Deichmanske bibliotek / Oslo Public Library at Rikshospitalet is available to patients and their families, as well as hospital employees.
The library is centrally located near the hospital´s entrance, by the cafe. The hospital is only a 15-minute ride from the city center by tram, and route number 17 and 18 have the hospital as their endstation.
The patient library circulates books, graphic novels/comic books, magazines, audio books, music on CD, movies on DVD, Nintendo DS, Playstation 2 and Gameboy Advanced -players and -games, as well as a selection of daily newspapers. Patients can borrow CD-player and DVD-player, and the library has a computer with Internet access which is reserved for patients and their families.
The library has administrative responsibility for the ”Artotek”, which circulates art. Patients can choose paintings from the Artotek wall to have in their hospital rooms.
Patients who are not able to come to the library can have a library
employee bring material directly to their rooms.
