Deichmanske bibliotek / Oslo Public Library, Røa Branch

The Røa branch is located in the square of the Vestre Aker district, and services a population of approximately 70,000.  The district borders the Nordmarka forest and the county of Bærum, and has patrons from these areas, also, as well as from Sørkedalen and Ullern.  You can reach the branch by travelling west from downtown Oslo on bus line 32 or subway line 2, both of which stop at Røa.

Well over half of the district's inhabitants are between the ages of 17 and 67.  Approximately one fourth are children and youth, and just over 5,000 are over the age of 67.  Our patrons use their library to borrow books, films or music, to read newspapers and magazines, or do homework.

For our youngest patrons, we regularly arrange children's events.  We also have other types of events, often in cooperation with local groups, institutions and historical societies – the branch has an excellent collection of local-historical interest.

A readers' group consisting of physically challenged children, lead by our children's librarian, meets regularly at the library.  Patrons wishing to use their own laptop computers can find work stations in our reading room.  Those requiring Internet access can use one of the computers dedicated to this purpose.

The library holds art exhibitions monthly, where both established artists and local amateurs can show their work.
